Web development
What is a freelance web developer?
A freelance web developer is an independent developer who builds websites and webshops without sitting inside an agency. You get direct contact with the person doing the work, typically lower hourly rates than agencies, and a shorter path from question to answer. Since 2010 I’ve delivered 200+ sites and shops for Danish businesses.
I deliver company sites, landing pages, Shopify or WooCommerce shops, and maintenance on existing builds. The stack is usually WordPress, Shopify, HTML, CSS and JavaScript — chosen for your needs. For most SMEs WordPress or Shopify are the right fit: manageable day-to-day, strong communities, and you’re not locked to one vendor.
Without agency overhead you skip extra layers of account managers and queues. You message or call me; I usually reply within about two hours on weekdays. That makes small changes easier to ship, and at DKK 650/hour you’re often well below typical agency rates.
Freelance web developer for SMEs in Denmark
Many teams pick an independent developer over an agency for a lower hourly rate — I charge DKK 650/hour versus typical agency rates of DKK 1,200–2,000 — and one steady contact. No account managers or queues: you write or call and I usually reply within about two hours on weekdays.
I work with businesses across Denmark via email, phone and video. Whether you need a new site, a shop or support for something live, the model is the same: short discovery, clear quote, then delivery.
Mainly SMEs: sole traders, startups and firms with roughly five to fifty people. The goal is sites you can maintain, shops that sell, and campaign landings that convert — across retail, food, crafts, consulting and more.
You get one person who plans, builds and ships. WordPress and Shopify are central because you can operate them yourself afterwards. I provide a concise handoff so you’re not dependent on me for every tiny text tweak.
Typical work: new company sites with five–fifteen pages, shops with up to a few hundred SKUs, campaign landings and ongoing care. Large enterprise programmes with big dev teams aren’t my focus — I add most value on manageable engagements with one experienced builder.
My process
How I work as a freelance web developer
1. Discovery & planning
First I understand your goals, audience and needs — website, shop or landing page? I recommend technology (WordPress, Shopify) and outline a plan. Success means what you define it to mean.
2. Build & design
I build your site or shop with design that matches your brand: fast loading, mobile-first and SEO fundamentals. Professional code that ships — not half-finished work.
3. Test & polish
We review together. You give feedback; I refine. The goal is satisfaction before launch — and that everything works across devices and browsers.
4. Training & support
You get hands-on training to manage content and day-to-day operations — then you can handle most updates yourself. I stay available for maintenance, fixes and new features on hourly billing or clip cards.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a freelance web developer cost?
I work at DKK 650/hour excl. VAT. A simple site often falls in the DKK 15,000–30,000 range; webshops typically cost more. Freelancers are usually cheaper than agencies at DKK 1,200–2,000/hour. You get a concrete quote after a short, no-obligation scoping call.
What does a freelance web developer do?
A freelance web developer builds websites, webshops and landing pages, and maintains existing sites. I work with WordPress, Shopify and WooCommerce — from straightforward company sites to shops with payments and shipping.
Why choose a freelance web developer over an agency?
Often lower hourly rates, faster replies and direct contact with the person shipping the work — no account managers or agency layers between you and the build.
Which technologies do you use?
WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. I choose the stack for the project — often WordPress or Shopify for easier maintenance. Custom React or Vue only when it genuinely makes sense.
Do you help with both websites and webshops?
Yes — company sites, landing pages, Shopify or WooCommerce shops, plus ongoing maintenance. I have solid experience across both tracks.
Where in Denmark do you work?
Nationwide. Everything runs remotely — email, phone and video. You don’t need to be in Copenhagen or Aarhus to get the same setup and follow-up.
Can I start with a small task or a clip card?
Yes. Many clients start with a 2- or 5-hour clip card for specific tasks, sparring or quick fixes — see packages on the pricing page.
Do you offer maintenance after launch?
Yes — updates, security, new pages and small tweaks are billed hourly or via clip cards so you’re not left without support after go-live.
Ready to talk about your next site or shop?
Email or call with a short brief and, if relevant, a link to what you have today. I’ll give an honest view on fit and next steps — no commitment.
You’ll usually hear back within about two hours on weekdays with a concrete direction and price range.
